Renewable-energy feasibility work depends on site evidence, demand data, constraints, assumptions and professional judgement. Voice notes can preserve observations and stakeholder context, but an early impression should never be presented as a final technical or commercial recommendation.
Start with the decision the survey must support
State whether the work is intended to screen options, support a feasibility study, prepare a business case or inform detailed design. This controls the level of evidence required and prevents a preliminary visit from being treated as a complete assessment.
Use an assumption-led site record
- Site, client objective and operational context.
- Current energy source, available demand information and data quality.
- Visible physical conditions and access limitations.
- Planning, grid, structural, environmental or operational constraints to verify.
- Measurements, photographs and document references.
- Technology options considered and why.
- Assumptions requiring modelling, specialist survey or client confirmation.
Separate evidence, suitability and recommendation
Label direct observations separately from customer statements, estimates and technical interpretation. A roof may appear suitable for solar, or a site may appear suitable for storage, but the recommendation should follow checked measurements, modelling, approvals and cost evidence.
Control dated assumptions
Tariffs, demand profiles, equipment performance, grid information, incentives and policy conditions can change. Record the date and source of every material assumption so that an outdated statement does not remain embedded as a current fact.
Build a verification register
Before issuing a report, confirm which items have been verified, which remain provisional and who owns each follow-up. Include data gaps, required surveys, modelling inputs, approvals and commercial dependencies.
How NERALVO Halo fits
NERALVO Halo can capture authorised site and stakeholder notes offline, with later DOWAY transcription and structured summaries.
The final feasibility report must remain based on checked data, calculations and professional assessment. Audio is a drafting and evidence-gap tool, not the approved conclusion.
