How to Correct Names, Acronyms and Technical Terms in AI Transcripts

Reviewed and updated: 21 July 2026.

Names and specialist terms are often the first transcript errors to damage usefulness. Correct them systematically rather than fixing each occurrence at random.

Create a correction list before review

Collect participant names, organisations, project codes, products, acronyms and specialist vocabulary expected in the recording.

Correct the first occurrence carefully

Verify spelling from an authoritative source. Expand an acronym on first use when the final audience may not know it, while preserving the spoken form where wording matters.

Search for variants

A single name may be mistranscribed several ways. Search phonetic fragments, common substitutions and partial acronyms.

Check context, not just spelling

The same abbreviation can have different meanings. Confirm the sentence and speaker before performing a global replacement.

Keep source and editorial changes separate

A transcript correction restores what was said. An explanatory note adds context. Do not silently rewrite speech into preferred terminology.

How NERALVO Halo fits

NERALVO Halo and DOWAY can turn audio into searchable text, making repeated term correction faster. Important spellings still require human verification.

A maintained terminology list improves consistency across recordings and reveals recurring errors that should be included in training or templates.
