Lift engineering combines public safety, controlled access, moving equipment and detailed fault history. Voice recording should only occur from a safe, authorised position and must never influence isolation, inspection or return-to-service decisions.
Identify the installation and current status
State the building, lift number, controller or component, call-out reason, work order and current isolation or service status before describing the fault.
Capture the full fault chain
- Site or passenger report.
- Observed condition.
- Error code, alarm or indication.
- Tests and inspection steps performed.
- Component, adjustment or software change.
- Post-work verification result.
- Restriction, outstanding risk or follow-up action.
Separate reported symptoms from confirmed cause
A user report such as intermittent door failure should remain reported information until supported by inspection and test evidence. Preserve alternative explanations where the cause is not yet confirmed.
Keep safety decisions formal
Do not use an AI summary to clear equipment. Isolation, inspection, test, authorisation and handover must be recorded in the required controlled system by the appropriate competent person.
Strengthen shift and contractor handover
State what is isolated, which components were changed, what tests are complete, what evidence exists, which parts are pending and who may resume work.
Verify closure
A completed action should point to test evidence and an unambiguous equipment status. If restrictions remain, state them clearly and assign ownership.
How NERALVO Halo fits
NERALVO Halo can support permitted post-task notes and handovers, including offline capture where connectivity is poor.
The final engineering record must remain separate from the AI draft and make safety, isolation and service status unmistakable.
