One-sided call audio usually means the recording route captured only the local microphone or only the phone’s output. Compatibility varies by phone, operating system, app, call type and recorder position.
Identify which side is missing
Listen to the original audio. Determine whether your voice, the remote participant or both are intermittent. Do not judge only from the transcript.
Recreate the setup safely
Use a short test call with a willing participant. Record:
- Phone model and operating system.
- Call app or standard phone call.
- Speakerphone, earpiece or connected headset.
- Recorder position and mode.
- Phone case and magnetic attachment.
Change one variable at a time
- Confirm CALL mode where supported.
- Remove or change the phone case.
- Test speakerphone and normal handset use.
- Disconnect Bluetooth earbuds or car systems.
- Test another supported call type.
- Check app and operating-system permissions.
Do not assume universal call recording
A successful room recording does not prove two-sided call capture. Retest after phone, app or operating-system updates.
